IT seems that all the other common diseases in the country have disappeared and only Covid-19 is in the country now.

A pastor, John Bal from Simbu province who was seeking treatment for malaria at the Goroka General Hospital said this yesterday.

“It seems that other diseases like, malaria, typhoid, cough and flu, headaches and other such diseases in the country have disappeared because workers in the hospitals are only checking patients for Covid-19,” Pst Bal said.

“I went to the hospital and asked the staff there to check me for malaria and typhoid but the hospital workers said they are only checking people for coronavirus.”

Pst Bal said it seems that the coronavirus has removed all the other diseases that we have in the country and Covid-19 seems to be the only disease in the country.

“I do not know what has happened to the other sicknesses like malaria, typhoid cough and flu which is popular among the people,” Pst Bal stressed.

“It could be possible that these diseases are silently killing people while the country is focusing on the coronavirus.”

The pastor urged the hospitals and the government to also look into the most common diseases in the country and not to mix common cold, cough and flu for Covid-19.

A health worker at the Goroka General Hospital yesterday confirmed that they are prioritizing people with Covid-19 symptoms and urged patients with other diseases to visit their nearest clinics.
