THE Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF) has received a significant boost to its medical supplies following a K1 million donation of medicines from the Chinese hospital ship, Silk Road Ark 867.

Speaking at a brief ceremony at Murray Barracks, PNGDF Chief of Personnel, Colonel Rodney Yahamani, expressed gratitude for the timely support, describing the donation as a reflection of the growing partnership between PNG and China.

“On behalf of the Papua New Guinea Defence Force, it is my great honor to welcome our friends from the Chinese Silk Road Ark 867 Hospital Ship and thank them for their generous donation,” Col Yahamani said.

He conveyed the PNGDF’s appreciation to the Government and people of China for their continued assistance, not only in the health sector but across various development areas.

Col Yahamani said the donation symbolized the strong relationship between the two nations and their shared commitment to improving the well-being of citizens.

“This occasion is a symbol of friendship, cooperation, and shared commitment to the health and well-being of our people,” he said.

He added that the medicines would enhance the PNGDF’s ability to care for soldiers, their families, and the wider community.

The support from the Chinese government and the PLA Navy highlighted a mutual vision for peace, development, and respect between the two countries, he said.

Col Yahamani reaffirmed PNGDF’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with international partners to deliver lasting benefits for the people and country.
