EASTERN Highlands Provincial Police Commander Chief Superintendent Albert Beli has confirmed that two suspects are now detained at Goroka Police Station to be charged accordingly. He said the two suspects were identified as the main suspects who were allegedly involved in the murder of Marot Keteno on September 16, 2026.

PPC Beli, while acknowledging the good work that his officers have done, is also calling on the relatives of the deceased not to take the law into their own hands, as the matter is now in police hands.

PPC Beli said police have received reports of people attempting payback killings, which he strongly discourages because the principal offenders are now in police custody.

He warned that if anyone retaliates, they will have blood on their hands and police will go after them. He emphasized that two wrongs do not make a right, and a wrong is still a wrong.

”I am calling on the family members of the late deceased to assist the police instead of taking the law into their own

hands. A wrong has been done, and we must let the law take its course. We must not create another wrong because that will not fix what has happened; it will only lead to bigger problems,” PPC Beli said.

PPC Beli further thanked the police officers and community leaders who assisted in bringing forward the main suspects under investigation. He said the two will remain in police custody and will appear in court as soon as their court files are ready.
