The National Youth Competition Grand Final will be played as part of the Digicel ExxonMobil Cup Amazing Round.

The future of Papua New Guinea rugby league will be shown this weekend at the Santos National Football Stadium, with Central Dabari Under-19s take on Port Moresby Vipers Under-19s.The match gives young players the chance to perform on one of the country’s biggest stages and highlights the PNGRFL’s development pathway.

The weekend will also feature all six Digicel ExxonMobil Cup games, showcasing both current stars and rising talent.

For the Vipers, fullback David Sevara has been a standout, scoring five tries in five games. The Dabaris will look to winger David Taraka, who scored a hat trick in the semi-finals and has been a key player on both attack and defense.

PNGRFL Chief Executive officer, Stanley Hondina said the youth competition is vital for developing future players. “Many of these athletes have come through the PNGRFL Academy and youth pathway. The Grand Final is their chance to show the skills and discipline they’ve built,” he said.

He added that staging the youth final during Amazing Round gives young players national exposure and shows the opportunities available for those committed to rugby league.

Updates on the Grand Final and event activities will be shared on the PNG National Youth Competition’s social media pages throughout the week.
