THE Philippines Boxer has arrived in the country on Saturday morning two weeks in advance to take on his PNG opponent in a super featherweight title fight.

The contender Roldan Aldea arrived with his team at Jacksons International Airport in Port Moresby and was brought straight into isolation. Aldea will remain in isolation for 14 days to observe the Covid-19 protocols in place in the country.

World Boxing Association- Asia (WBA-Asia) is hosting this fight at Port Moresby John Guise Stadium on April 25, 2021 where the Philippines international contender Aldea will take on PNG’s Junior Raka.

The title fight is the first of its kind to happen in PNG and the winner will have his name registered on the belt as Champion for the WBA- Asia region. This will make the champion eligible to defend his title anywhere in the Asia region.

The fight will go on for eight rounds. However as the first timer to host such a fight it is likely for the organizers to reduce the rounds to only six.

Meanwhile, the Philippines international is now in isolation and will not be allowed to access any sporting facility or make physical contact with members of the Oceania Fight Promotions until he is cleared for Covid-19.

Moreover PNG light weight champion Junior Raka is now in camp with his team at East Boroko in preparation for the fight ahead.
