FGPNG announces new executives

FOCUS Gulf Papua New Guinea (FGPNG), a community-based monitoring group has announced its new chairperson in Mrs. Irene Buro Vulum.

FGPNG says Mrs. Irene will lead the group given her years of experience working behind the establishment of FGPNG.

She has been working in financial management and corporate community event management to the FGPNG team, including years as an administration office for the DFK Mayberry Accounting Firm.

Most recently, Irene has been devoted to the ideals of the team of professional elites organising the forums in port Moresby and Kerema as well as liaising with the young Gulf elites from the University of Papua New Guinea Gulf day organising committee since May 2014.

As chairperson, Irene will oversee the Rhythms United for Kerema General Hospital fundraising and delivery of the much-needed assistance for Kerema General Hospital for 2023.

FGPNG administers a community forum of active members on facebook for likeminded professionals from Gulf province that consists of fourteen thousand active members who are from Gulf origin or either mix or full parentage.

The full executive teams comprise: chairlady – Ms Irene Buro, Treasurer Diane Karukuru, Secretary John Raga, and executive officer Philip Keapu.

The events coordinators are; Mark Kaiva and Mr Sammy Oeka.

FGPNG is a community-based monitoring group, form of public oversight, ideally driven by local informational needs and community values, to increase the accountability and quality of social services or contribute to the management of resources in gulf province.

The group was formed in 2012 to provide a platform for the people of gulf province to inform, educate and create awareness on development aspirations of people.

FGPNG acknowledges the outstanding contribution of former Patron Jim Taparu, chairlady Mrs Maso Raka, and late David Vai’i who were instrumental icons in the development of the group.
