Nawaed MP presents K50, 000 for water project

MEMBER for Nawaed Theo Pelgen has presented K50, 000 cheque to Situm Primary School and Situm Health Centre last Wednesday for a new water supply project.
The funding comes from commitment made by Mr. Pelgen earlier this year following the need to improve the water system for the two facilities.
The water supply project will see a new reservoir and water piping system that will cater for students, teachers’ houses, health center and health workers’ houses.
The funding allocation was facilitated by Nawaeb Chief Executive Officer Mr Buds Botikie and Nawaeb District Administration.
Pelgen assured that Situm Primary School will be model school for Labuta Local Level Government (LLG) and all other primary schools in Labuta will be captured for development as well.
The local MP further instructed the Labuta LLG Cluster Inspector to release data for all schools in the LLG.
He said this will give him vital information on the condition of the schools and therefore enable him to plan properly and assist schools with projects.
“We will ensure all schools in Nawaeb have access to proper power supply through the means of solar systems and good communication facilities.
“By doing this, we will strive to bring the academic performance of Nawaeb Schools back to the top of the province,” Mr. Pelgen said.
He said this is a collaborative effort and therefore will need the support of parents, teachers, students, and community as well.
Situm Primary School Head teacher Zaroma Serum said, contractor for the new water project has been engaged and is ready to commence work as soon as possible.
“We have good supply of running water as well so it would not be a problem in terms of water flow.”
Mr Serum assured the local MP that the new water supply project will benefit the Situm Health Centre more effectively as well.
