THE request put forth by the Nipa Kutubu District Development Authorities (DDAs) for the deployment of Mobile Squad units has been granted and promptly dispatched.
The convoy’s arrival was captured in photographs as members of the team diligently unloaded their valuable cargo.
These Mobile Squad units have been assigned a crucial mission, including tackling criminal elements and gang activity along the region’s roads.
They will also play a pivotal role in supporting contractors like COL for the Mendi to Nipa road and the new contractor responsible for sealing the Poroma to Kutubu route.
Furthermore, they will provide vital assistance to the DDA in enforcing the eviction of illegal settlers at both Nipa and Poroma stations, among other responsibilities.
MP Nipa Kutubu expressed heartfelt gratitude to those who made this deployment possible, particularly Commissioner of Police David Mannings, Director of Special Services Division Mr. Tasion, and Commander of Highlands Mr. Kelly.
Their cooperation has been instrumental in addressing the pressing security and development needs of the region.
In a passionate plea, MP Nipa Kutubu urged the citizens of Nipa Kutubu to adopt a mindset that respects the rule of law, emphasizing the importance of law and order in their communities.
Additionally, MP Nipa Kutubu acknowledged the support provided by Governor Powi and the Southern Highlands Provincial Government (SHPG). This support has facilitated the construction of essential infrastructure, including the Nipa courthouse, Magistrate House, Nipa Mobile Barracks, and the Semin Highway Patrol. Plans are underway to relocate the police station to the site of the current rural lock-up at Nipa station, enhancing security and service delivery.
