THE secretary of the Department of foreign Affairs Elas Wohengu has extended his appreciation to all non-government, government agencies and PNG citizens for their support in the year 2023 as they rep up the year and looking forward for 2024.
In a recent statement, he stated the achievements of Department of Foreign Affairs driven by its foreign policy.
“As we come in the year in our foreign relations pursuit, I guess it is only fitting that we ended the year in Australian Prime Minister, the Anthony Albanese, MP.
“Albanese made a State Visit on the 12 January. Prime Minister Marape concluding the Foreign Relations year, visiting Australia to sign a Bilateral Security Agreement,” he said.
Wohengu extended his gratitude to the nation and its citizens for appreciating and supporting Prime Minister who is the chief diplomat of our country representing us on the international foreign relations plane.
“The year has been another eventful year with PNG achieving many outstanding events from security to Development Corporation and strengthening our people–people relations with our development partners,” he said.
The Department formally opened the calendar of events with the official visit of the Australian Prime Minister, Hon. Anthony Albanese, MP and it gives me great honor that we find ourselves in Australia to officially conclude Prime Minister Marape’s for 2023,” he said.
Wohengu on behalf of the Department thanked Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, James Marape and extended his appreciation to the Minister for state assisting the Prime Minister.
He also thanked member for Moresby South, Justin Tkatchenko for his leadership and support to the Department and Prime Minister.
