Nawaeb MP highlights programs undertaken in 2023

MEMBER for Nawaeb Theo Pelgen has highlighted programs/projects undertaken and implemented in 2023 under his leadership.

While welcoming the New Year 2024 with open arms, Pelgen placed the district ready ahead to see more work for development to be realized.

He took the last day of 2023 to highlight positive developments undertaken and implemented in 2023.

Some of these programs/projects include;

  1. Launch of Nawaeb District 5 Year Development Plan aligned with MTDPIV.
  2. Presentation of first 6 months Development Report to Parliament.
  3. Labuta Coastal Highway Feasibility & Scoping.
  4. Rural Electrification Program Scope for Erap Junction to Boana Station.
  5. Labuta Coastal Fisheries Marine Park Feasibility.
  6. Infrastructure Projects for Nawaeb Secondary School.
  7. Tourism Development Plan and Scoping.
  8. Opening of Bumayong Police Station and SME Centre.
  9. Launching of multiple SME Start Up programs for Mothers of Nawaeb District.
  10. Supported all Rural Health Centre’s with Medicines & Pharmaceuticals, PPEs.
  11. Upgrading of more feeder roads including new feeder roads.
  12. Roll-out of Community Water Projects.
  13. New Bridge Designs and Work progress of Labuta LLG main rivers.
  14. Conducted detailed model terrain survey of rural roads (Nawaeb District Technical Team & Provincial Works Division).
  15. Supported several Education Infrastructure Projects- Teachers Houses & Classrooms.
  16. Solar Lights roll-out in Rural areas of Nawaeb.
  17. Conducted survey for Navigational Lighting Systems.
  18. Youth Programs & Trainings.

He said these will be continued in the coming year with more emphasis on Rural Impact Projects such as Rural Road Construction and New Nawaeb District Administration Building.

“Thank you Marape-Rosso Government for the funding support in 2022 & 2023 and we look forward to implement several Government programs such as Connect PNG and Cocoa & Coffee Support Programs amongst others.”

“Our approach is from village level up for the people to feel service delivery right at their door steps.”

Pelgen said work on existing projects will be continuing as well.

“On behalf of my family, Nawaeb District Administration, Nawaeb District Technical Team, LLGs (Nabak, Wain/Erap, Labuta & Ahi), I would wish the people of Nawaeb and Papua New Guinea a very blessed New Year 2024.”
