The trial for the Kandep Open Seat began in the Waigani National Court yesterday.
Today in court, the Amendment to Objection to Competency was filed by the incumbent MP and First Respondent Hon.Don Pomb Polye which was heard this morning with a decision reserved for this afternoon.
When the case returned at 2:00pm this afternoon for ruling, Justice Joseph Yagi granted the Application to Amend the Objection to Competency to the first respondent but with cost for unnecessary delay.
Justice Yagi gave one day to the First Respondent’s lawyer to file and serve the documents and adjourned the matter to Thursday January 11, 2024 at 9:30am.
The Kandep Open Seat election petition was fixed for trial from January 08 – January 26 at the Waigani National Court.
The petitioner is former MP Alfred Manase disputing the win of Triumph Heritage Empowerment (THE) Party leader and Minister for Higher Education, Science, Research and Technology plus Sports Hon.Don Pomb Polye.
