Prime Minister Marape Announces Release of Vanimo-Green MP Belden Namah fromGovernment

Port Moresby, January 14, 2024 – Prime Minister and Pangu PaC Leader Hon. James Marape today announced the release of Vanimo-Green MP and PNG Party Leader Belden Namah from the Government.

Prime Minister Marape said, “Pangu PaC’s Parliamentary and Non-Parliamentary wings reached a resoluCon to release Namah from Government.”

He expressed graCtude to Mr. Namah for his parCcipaCon in the Government since the 2022 General ElecCons but emphasised that Pangu PaC believes it is Cme to release him from Government.

“The Honourable Namah is a personal friend but I have responded to the call by my Party’” Prime Minister Marape said.

He also also acknowledged the resignaCons of six MPs last week from Government. Prime Minister Marape thanked them for their contribuCons to the Government since the 2022 General ElecCon.

He stated, “They are free to join the OpposiCon as mandated leaders, and from there, they can offer construcCve alternaCves to how we all can develop our country.

“They joined the Government aYer the 2022 General ElecCon as individual leaders . We have offered them room and support, as a fair Government should, however, they have always shown signs of dissaCsfacCon, hence, it is fair that they leave.

“The Government, led by Pangu PaC with 52 MPs and the solid backing of coaliCon partners, remains intact.”

General Secretary of the Pangu ParC Morris Tovebae also thanked Mr. Namah for the 18 months of work with the Government.
