THE parliament sitting kicked off smoothly at 2pm today and the much anticipated Vote of No Confidence is yet to be tabled at parliament as there is process to be followed.
Speaker of Parliament Job Pomat during the parliament sitting announced that he has received a notice of motion in the confidence of Prime Minister James Marape, member for Tari Pori open at the speaker Lounge.
“As we aware there is a process that must be complied with section 145 of the constitution, standing order and recent Supreme Court decisions.
“The notice of motion of no confidence is a matter of national importance and it will take its precedence in the private business day.
“Before that happens it must be placed on notice paper for the minimum of Seven- days.
“Tomorrow the private business committee will meet to clear the notice of Motion of No Confidence base on the technical requirements of Section 145 of the constitution and the standing orders.
“Once the notice of motion for no confidence is cleared by the committee, it will be given to the clerk for reporting to parliament.
“After the clerk reports the notice of no confidence motion to parliament, it will be place on the notice paper and appear on the notice paper the next siting day, said Pomat.
Leader of government business Reinbo Paita moved a motion without notice for so much of the standing orders be suspended to allow him to move a motion to discharge and make appointments was agreed.
The notice of motion moved by Paita include the discharge of Johnson Wapunai, member for Ambunti-Drekikir open (PNC Party ) as Assistant Speaker and Jacob Kop Maki Mul Baiyer open member (PANGU PARTY) appointed as Assistant Speaker.
Allan Bird Governor for East Sepik Province was discharge as member of Private Business Committee and Mr Chris Hiaivata Governor for Gulf Province appointed.
Elias Kapavore Pomio Open (PNC PARTY) appointed chairman of parliamentary committee and public accounts.
