PNG ATSA celebrates anniversary

By Benson Wema

THE PNG Adventist Tertiary Student Association (PNG ATSA) has marked its 40th anniversary of the PNG ATSA which was held in Port Moresby.  The event, which was held on Saturday, April 13th, featured a unique programme of reflection of PNG Adventist student ministry and celebrate their work and achievements.

President Remedy Amevo gave his address ahead of the PNG ATSA Emphasis Day on April 13th and acknowledged students in the tertiary institutions for their involvement and commitment to support the ministry. He stressed the importance of hosting the event and highlighted the core objectives which focused on empowering and encouraging Adventist students in PNG as well as the neighbouring countries.

Furthermore, their objectives also aim on emphasising the PNG for Christ evangelism and the Post PNG for Christ that is planned for execution during the Convention at the end of the year.

“I would like to encourage all students to be part of this great movement, the student ministry movement in this country,” Amevo said.  Amevo alluded to scripture recorded in Ecclesiastes 12:1, pointing the idea of investing the service of Youths in the work of Christ. “The Bible admonishes us to remember now our Lord, in the days of our Youth. There is no other time to come to Jesus, it is now when we are still Youths,” he said.

“Youths are the heralds in the hands of the almighty as stated in Palms 127:4. It depends on where we place ourselves identifying the right master whom we can count on for sure rest and firm foundation.”

He acknowledged the past leadership of the PNG ATSA that had gone past initiating the student ministry in tertiary institutions across PNG. “I would like to acknowledge our pioneers whom the Lord had placed this vision upon, for their service and remarkable leadership that moved the students in the different years,” Amevo said.
