Paita: issues are still there.

THE Alternate Prime Minister and Member for Finschhafen, Hon Rainbo Paita, has expressed his desire to see the Government address ongoing issues of poor governance and implement positive leadership changes to move the country forward.

“We, as elected leaders, must speak on behalf of our people, who cannot voice their concerns. This is an opportunity for us to highlight that the government is not fulfilling its responsibilities, and we need to hold it accountable,” Paita said during a media conference.

“It is better we speak and challenge the government on the floor of Parliament than for our people to take to the streets demanding change.”

Following the successful approval of the Vote of No Confidence notice by the Private Business Committee, Paita expressed confidence that his team is ready to form government and address the pressing issues affecting the people who continue to suffer under the current administration.

Paita also clarified that his appointment as the Alternate Prime Minister was a decision made by his colleagues, and he has embraced the responsibility wholeheartedly to lead the team in advocating for change.

“PNG, we are now at a crossroads, with a lot of issues bombarding us from all sides,” Paita stated. He highlighted that many of these issues continue to escalate because the government has failed to take decisive action to resolve them.

He invites members of the current government to join their cause in advocating for a new government that would bring stability and genuine progress to the nation.
