EDUCATION Minister Francis Kikin Siune has directed the heads of key agencies within the Ministry of Education to submit all outstanding annual reports and related Cabinet and parliamentary documents by July 31, saying accountability and transparency must remain central to the sector’s operations.
The directive applies to Education Secretary Dr. Uke Kombra, Acting Teaching Service Commission Chairman Maini Ugaia, and Office of Library and Archives Director General Dennis Bagelo.
Under the instruction, the agency heads must compile and submit annual reports for 2023, 2024 and 2025 before the close of business on Friday, July 31.
They have also been directed to provide all corresponding National Executive Council (NEC) submissions, official copies of documents previously submitted to Cabinet, and ministerial statements prepared for presentation to Parliament through the NEC.
Minister Siune said the directive reflects the priorities he outlined when he assumed office, with transparency, accountability and good governance forming the foundation of his leadership of the education sector.
“Accountability and good governance are not optional; they are the heart of public trust,” Mr. Siune said.
“To ensure the education sector is operating with total transparency, all agency heads must bring their reporting up to date. We owe this to our schools, our teachers and our people.”
The minister said the directive also aligns with broader policy directions issued by the National Executive Council and the Prime Minister, which require government agencies to maintain compliance with statutory reporting obligations.
Agency heads have been given until 4 p.m. on Friday, July 31, to comply with the administrative directive.
