K92 Mining Limited has donated K10,000 to the Waniati Maternal Waiting Home, a community-based initiative operated by Victor Timothy and Sister Bolena Azimo to support expectant mothers, particularly those travelling from remote communities to access maternal health services.
The cheque presentation took place at the Bird of Paradise Hotel in Goroka on 07 September 2026, and was attended by K92 Mining CEO John Lewins, Vice President Projects and Engineering Chris Kinver, Vice President Community Affairs and External Relations Stanley Komunt, and members of the K92 Mining team, who presented the donation to Victor Timothy of the Waniati Maternal Waiting Home.
The donation will assist the Waniati Maternal Waiting Home with its ongoing operations and efforts to provide a safe and supportive place for mothers who need to stay closer to health facilities before giving birth.
Expectant mothers usually travel from across the Eastern Highlands Province and neighboring Simbu and Madang provinces to stay at the facility while accessing antenatal care or awaiting delivery at the Goroka Provincial Hospital. The home provides a safe and affordable place to stay, particularly for mothers who may not be able to afford hospital accommodation fees. For many mothers, the facility becomes a home away from home, providing support and accommodation both before and after childbirth.

that help improve access to essential health services for communities, particularly women and
children.
The initiative, led by Mr Victor Timothy and Sister Bolena Azimo, reflects the important role community-driven programs can play in complementing existing health services and supporting better maternal health outcomes.
