ICTSI South Pacific has opened its graduate recruitment program to Papua New Guineans, offering aspiring young professionals a pathway into the country’s port operations, engineering and technology sectors.

The initiative aims to develop local talent for two of Papua New Guinea’s key international container terminals, providing graduates with practical workplace experience, structured training and professional mentoring as they begin their careers.

Applications are open to Papua New Guinean citizens who completed their final year of studies in 2026 and have graduated or are awaiting graduation in 2027.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to gain experience at the South Pacific International Container Terminal (SPICT) in Lae and Motukea International Terminal (MIT) in Port Moresby.

ICTSI South Pacific said the program reflects its commitment to investing in Papua New Guinea’s future workforce and preparing graduates for careers in the terminal operations industry.

The program covers three key areas: terminal operations, engineering and technology. Participants may gain experience in vessel, yard and gate operations, equipment maintenance and reliability engineering, facilities planning, systems applications and information technology support.

Graduates will also benefit from job rotations across operational areas, formal training and development, and mentoring from experienced professionals. Overseas exposure may also be available as part of their career development.

Eligible applicants must hold qualifications in relevant disciplines, including engineering, information technology, computer science, applied physics with electronics, mathematics, economics and construction management, among related fields.

Applicants must meet the program’s eligibility requirements and successfully complete the recruitment and assessment process, including online aptitude testing.

Applications close on January 15, 2027, at 12am. Interested candidates can find further information and apply through ICTSI South Pacific’s recruitment channels.

ICTSI South Pacific operates SPICT in Lae and MIT in Port Moresby. The company is part of the global ICTSI Group, which operates international container terminals and supports Papua New Guinea’s connection to international markets.
