KTF powers village

KOKODA Track Foundation (KTF) has delivered 350 solar lights to Barisari village in Oro Province. KTF a not-for-profit, international development organisation under the Lights-for-Learning initiative assisted students in remote communities to have access to clean solar power.The organisation has committed itself to light up more than 30 communities in phase two of its project in Oro.The donation was officiated by KTF Project Manager in PNG Mr Dominic Papau. He delivered the “Sun King” solar kits for household and some “Barefoot” solar kits for schools and church in the community.Mr Papau also encouraged the people to take ownership of the services.A chief in the community Mr Mishael Okasi while signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) emotionally commended KTF for delivering such vital service.He said it was first of its kind in Barisari village.The Head Teacher of Barisari Primary School and church leaders also shared the same sentiment and acknowledged KTF for the much-needed service in the community. Provincial project coordinator for KTF in the province Mr Grayson Kaumi thank the people of Barisari for their warm welcome and assured the people that many other similar services was yet to come and they needed to take ownership of the first project.
