Aiton to name final squad after today’s final trial

By GABRIEL KATUHO

THE PNG SP Hunters Coach Paul Aiton will be announcing the final 30-man squad after their final trial match this afternoon at Santos National Football Stadium.

During the Hunter’s pre-session training on Thursday, Coach Aiton said the men are picking up and doing well.

He said each week the squad is getting better and better.

Aiton said communication is one area that they have been working on and there is a clear picture of improvement.

He added that in a game, communication is very important and they need to do a lot on that.

“Currently our squad, including the dolphin’s boys stands at 39, but that will be reduced to 30.

“Twenty (20) from last year so we add another ten (10).

“There are a lot of good boys out there.

“Considering the amount of players we used last year to make 30 squad, you just never know with the injuries and suspension we had last year we are not using a lot more players,” Coach Aiton said.

He said the structure of the players is simple but it relays on the communication and eyes up.

Aiton said that as a team they are giving the boys the tools and everything else is going to be up to them.

He said they are the ones who will be in the field but so far their footy is good, they can play footy.

The hunters will go on shoulder to shoulder in their first trial match to prove themselves into the final 30 men squad this evening at 5pm.

Coach Aiton said the squad have been divided into two teams to challenge themselves.

Aiton said that after their final trial, they will go through the evaluation process and then announce the final 30 men squad.
