The Secretary for the Department of Provincial and Local-Level Government Affairs, Philip Leo, has acknowledged receiving formal media questions regarding the ongoing leadership confusion in the Kagua-Erave District Development Authority (KEDDA), following direct engagement prior to his overseas departure.

The questions, submitted by Sunday Bulletin, sought urgent clarification on the legitimacy of the Acting Chairman and the KEDDA Chief Executive Officer amid growing public concern.

In his response, Mr Leo confirmed that his office had received correspondence interpreting a recent court order related to the matter, which has now been referred to his officers for legal and administrative review.

However, he indicated he was unable to provide substantive answers immediately, citing official travel commitments with Minister Soroi Eoe, and stated that a formal response would be provided upon his return based on advice from his staff.

Mr Leo further revealed that the Department is currently in communication with the Provincial Administration and other stakeholders to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Despite this, the lack of a clear and authoritative public statement continues to raise concerns among the people of Kagua-Erave.

Reports of an ongoing administrative vacuum, absence of public servants on the ground, and confusion over legitimate leadership have heightened tensions in the district.

There are now strong calls for the Department of Provincial and Local-Level Government Affairs, Provincial Administration, and political leaders to urgently convene a joint media conference to publicly clarify the situation and restore confidence in district governance.

With the 2027 National Elections approaching, stakeholders warn that continued silence or delays in providing clear direction could further destabilize the district.
