Commissioner of Police David Manning has confirmed a general pay increase of base salaries of the members of the RPNGC for each of the coming 3 years, commencing later this year.

“To ensure maximum welfare outcomes for members, a scaled approach to pay rise has been approved by the Department of Personnel Management.

The Commissioner advised that members of the rank Constable to Senior Constable will receive an average pay increase of 3% per annum, members of the rank Sergeant to Divisional Commander will receive an average pay increase of 2% per annum, while members above the rank Divisional Commander will receive a pay increase of 1.8% per annum.

Commissioner Manning said the pay increase, which  will take effect at a date to be set by the Department of Personnel Management, is well deserved by Police personnel who do their jobs properly and risk their lives on a daily basis.

The Commissioner advised that discussions regarding potential increases in police pension pay rates remain underway with government agencies,

“Enhancing the welfare of Police personnel around the country, both current serving members and those who have retired after lengthy careers, is a priority for the RPNGC and the Government,” Mr Manning said.

“Negotiations for this pay increase began more than twelve months ago and we now have the agreement of all parties.

“I ask our members to be patient while budget is identified by the Department of Treasury and the salary increase is formalized by the Department of Personnel Management.

“This pay increase is one of several initiatives the Government has approved, including refurbishing and building more police housing, and there is a lot more work to do.

“We have been rebuilding an almost broken police force, and the RPNGC is a different today than years gone by with greater professionalism, dedication to the job and discipline.

“As we continue to enforce the strictest discipline standards, it is important to recognize the commitment and hard work of professional members of our Police Force.

“We will continue to remove ill-discipline from the RPNGC while we build a force of more than 10,000 police who will serve with pride and discipline.

“727 recruits have graduated from the Bomana Centre for Excellence since 2024 and are now serving in police stations around the country. The next cohort of more than 700 recruits are entering the college this week, building our Police Force at a rate of more than 1,000 members per year.’

“Enhancing the welfare of those who serve our communities with pride and professionalism is at the forefront of our works to rebuild the RPNGC.”

Commissioner Manning thanked all parties to the negotiations, the Police Association, the Public Employees Association and the Department of Personnel Management for their commitment to keep rebuilding the RPNGC.

“With the ongoing support of the Marape-Rosso Government we will continue to drive reforms in the RPNGC.”

Further details on the pay increase, including commencement date, will be communicated to all members by RPNGC Human Resources Division.
