GOVERNOR General Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae today welcomed to Government House the visit of cadets of the Joint Forces Academy based at Igam Barracks, Lae.
The 31 aspiring military cadet officers were taken on a tour of Government House and met with senior officers and briefed on the roles and functions of the officers and the Governor General as Head of State.
The Governor General personally addressed the cadets and commended them for pursuing a career in the military.
“You have chosen to pursue a special career unlike any other, one that requires sacrifice, and your life and service to the State,” Sir Bob said.
“Whilst our nation is not involved in a war right now, we must at all times be prepared as I know you are to defend our country.”
The Governor General informed the cadets that he looked forward to attending their graduation ceremony in August this year.
The cadets have undergone vigorous military training to equip them to serve as officers in the PNG Defence Force establishments throughout the country.
