Gulf Isou to change tactics

By GABRIEL KATUHO

GULF Isou is working on to changing their game tactics for a challenging competition this year after an assessment showed inconsistency in their last outing.

Franchise manager Raymond Aru, during the franchise managers football conference on Wednesday, said the conference has highlighted a lot of things which they will try to improve.

“In PNG rugby league, there is always a challenge in communicating what you want your team to play like, the technical aspects as well as the management, and this are the things that we have seen from our franchise,” he said.

“In our last outing, we have started off well in the first session but towards the middle and the end we started to go down.

“That has been the story for us.”

Gulf Isou have set up last three years around youth development.

The franchise has been focused on junior development since 2021.

“Most of the players that we have are the group of players from the development programme,” Aru said.

“You will see that our players are mostly made up of new players.

“70% of the players now in the training squad are from the province.

“We have several senior players who are coming for specific positions that we want, and from a technical aspect, coach Roger and his team will work on filling the other positions, especially the forwards.

“Most of our other positions are being filled by young players who have come through the development process.”

Aru said the coaching staff will be working to see they achieve their goals.
