Hunters to face Capras in second trial match

By GABRIEL KATUHO

THE SP PNG Hunters will be departing for Australia on tomorrow (Friday) for their second trial match with the Queensland Capras on Saturday.

Hunters Head Coach Paul Aiton after evaluating the team’s performance in the training sessions said that the team has been really well and getting every little things in order.

“It’s being really good, we still have good size squad to make two teams.

“The boys have been training really well despite the rain in the morning,” he said.

After the first trial with the Ipwitch Jets, the hunters are collectively working on few errors with Coach Aiton watching them closely.

Coach Aiton is pleased that they have completed their sets and getting ready for the Saturday’s game with Capras.

He said that the Queensland Capras are picking their strongest side with some of the PNG’s very own, and the Hunters are gearing up to go against their own.

With Bobby Tenza, Zev John, Khaiya Ross and Samuel Yegip playing for the Capras, there is no chance the boys will let their countrymen hunt freely and escape the Capras territories.

With an interesting show to be displayed this weekend, the hunters have not announced its team line up as yet, however, Coach Aiton said they will do so as soon as they get the lineup fixed.

The Coach said there are couple of injuries and visas issues so, that would be finalized before the lineup is released.

The team for this weekend trial will most likely comprise of the experienced players with some new players fitted in to match to add flavor to the team’s performance.

Meanwhile, Epel Kapinias joined the Hunters camp tomorrow following Judah Rimbu and both will get their health fixed in preparation for the 2024 season.
