THE Open member for Kairuku and Minister for Energy Peter Namea Isoaimo has backed a fish farming project in Kairuku, to enhance food security and maximize economic growth for the local community.
The K20, 000 given to BOSPO fish farming project at Abiara Oreke in the Kairuku LLG over the weekend demonstrates Kairuku District Development Authority’ s continued support in assisting SME’s and corporatives in the district.
Founder of the BOSPO fish farming project Simon Beata was commended for his bold commitment in initiating the fish farming project that has impacted locals, especially youths in the area to earn economic sustenance through the fish farming project.
Mr Beata stood amongst many fish famers showing consistency, showing processing of way forward and showcased sustainability, because youths engaged were envisioned that fishing can change their lives.
District Chief Executive Officer Henry Oa commended the initiative by Mr Beata through the fishing project that is impacting livelihood in the community.
“The launching of the fish farming project shows a way forward for Kairuku to venture into business activities for the economic growth of local communities and the district.
“From this launching, we all now know that the corporative is promoting food security, income generation and creating economic growth for the local community and the district,” he said.
He thanked the local MP and the Kairuku District Development Authority for being very supportive in assisting small medium entrepreneurs to find their space in sustaining economic growth and improving livelihood at the community level.
He said such support from the political and the DDA level encourages communities to venture into organised economic generating activities to sustain their livelihood.
