MINISTER for Education Hon. Francis Kikin Siune, MP, officially opened and commissioned five major infrastructure and technology projects at the Kerevat National School of Excellence (NSoE) on Friday, September 25, 2026.
The event was attended by the Secretary for Education Dr. Uke Kombra, East New Britain Governor, Hon. Michael Marum, the East New Britain Provincial Administration leaders, the Board of Governors, school staff, students, and community representatives.
The commissioning marked a major milestone in advancing secondary and STEM education, reinforcing the National Government’s effort to modernize learning environments across Papua New Guinea.
The school was highly commended for these major improvements. The major developments launched included two 12-in-1 classroom complexes (featuring 16 smart classrooms) and a state-of-the-art multi-purpose auditorium built at the cost of K3.8 million.
This reflects the commitment and discipline of the school to maximize resources and produce quality outcomes.
Additional developments launched included the School Digital Management System to streamline school administration and student record-keeping, the School Development Plan & Future Projects, and the James Marape Legacy Campus.
The Minister unveiled the Marape Legacy Campus monument to honor Prime Minister James Marape and the Marape-Rosso government for championing the NSoE concept, supporting the National Schools of Excellence, and sustaining the STEM scholarship program over the past four years.
Highlighting long-term educational reform, Minister Siune announced the upcoming launch of the PNG Education Transformation Vision 2075 (PNGETV 2075).
Under the event theme, “Excelling through Digital Empowerment and Innovation,” Minister Siune emphasized the importance of integrating technology into administration and classroom learning.
To support this shift, the Department of Education recently launched EduNex, a centralized national Learning Management System (LMS) connecting digital curricula, lesson plans, assessment data, and academic records.
Kerevat NSoE has been chosen as one of seven National Schools of Excellence to pilot EduNex, integrating it directly with the school’s new digital management infrastructure.
Minister Siune reaffirmed that National Schools of Excellence are meant to serve as national incubators for STEM and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education.
He assured stakeholders that the National Government remains committed to funding educational infrastructure, teacher training, and digital learning platforms nationwide.
