On Friday, 12 June 2026, the Papua New Guinea Forest Authority (PNGFA) advanced its Communication, Knowledge Management, and Visibility (CKMV) strategy with the handover of modern communication and video conferencing tools from the European Union funded Forestry Climate Change Biodiversity (EU FCCB) Programme, implemented nationally by Expertise France.

The package includes video conferencing equipment, two computers, an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), a professional camera, and accessories such as a tripod. This investment is designed to strengthen PNGFA’s institutional communication, improve knowledge sharing, enhance stakeholder engagement, and raise the profile of its work in promoting sustainable forest management and governance across Papua New Guinea.

PNGFA Acting Managing Director Mr. John Mosoro welcomed the support, describing it as a milestone in modernising the Authority’s communication systems and connectivity.

“After discussions with the EU FCCB Programme’s Project Manager, Mr. Alaric Vandenberghe, we recognised the need to update our systems. I am pleased to see these discussions now leading to practical support that will enhance PNGFA’s operations and service delivery,” Mr. Mosoro said.

He emphasised that the new equipment will improve coordination between headquarters and provincial offices, enabling faster decision making, more efficient programme delivery, and stronger reporting to key government agencies.

“The equipment will bridge the gap between headquarters and our field offices. We can now communicate more effectively with provincial teams, improve data management, strengthen reporting, and ensure critical information reaches decision makers in a timely manner,” he added.

Mr. Mosoro also noted that video conferencing will reduce operational costs by minimising travel, while allowing staff to participate in virtual meetings, training programmes, workshops, and consultations with national and international partners. The equipment will further support PNG Diwai Holdings Limited, PNGFA’s commercial arm, by enhancing its ability to promote services and engage with stakeholders and investors.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Vandenberghe highlighted the EU FCCB Programme’s commitment to strengthening institutions vital to sustainable forest management and climate resilience:

“Strong institutions depend on effective communication systems. This support will assist PNGFA in better coordinating its provincial network, enhancing stakeholder engagement, and raising awareness of its vital role in managing PNG’s forest resources.”

He added that the investment is not just about equipment but about enhancing transparency, facilitating knowledge sharing, and fostering collaboration, positioning PNGFA as a key player in biodiversity conservation, climate action, and sustainable economic growth.

This handover builds on the successful development of PNGFA’s CKMV Strategy and corporate website, also supported by the EU FCCB Programme. Together, these initiatives are helping PNGFA evolve into a modern, transparent, and forward looking institution capable of effectively communicating its achievements, engaging stakeholders, and supporting inclusive forest governance nationwide.
