Students from Wapenamanda District attending tertiary institutions across the country are expected to begin receiving school fee subsidies starting next week, according to Wapenamanda MP and Transport Minister Miki Kaeok.
Minister Kaeok confirmed that the district’s tertiary education support program will officially roll out to assist students and parents struggling with the rising cost of education.
He said education remains one of his highest priorities, stressing that investing in students is critical to securing a better future for Wapenamanda District and the country.
Under the arrangement, students attending University of Papua New Guinea, Divine Word University, University of Goroka, Pacific Adventist University, and Papua New Guinea University of Technology will receive their subsidies through personal accounts, while payments for students attending other institutions will be made directly into their respective school accounts.
Minister Kaeok acknowledged that his leadership has been tested by a number of challenges, including Ombudsman Commission matters, court cases, tribal conflicts, political pressure, and personal attacks.
Despite these difficulties, he said he remained determined to ensure students from Wapenamanda were not neglected.
“There are moments in leadership when challenges can easily discourage a person from continuing to serve. But I strongly believe that the future of Wapenamanda depends on the education and success of our young people,” he said.
The Transport Minister encouraged students to remain focused on their studies and strive to become future leaders capable of bringing positive change to their communities and the nation.
He also thanked parents, families, and supporters for continuing to stand beside students during difficult times.
Minister Kaeok further called on the people of Wapenamanda to continue investing in education, unity, peace, and development for the district’s future.

On behalf of all Wapenamanda Territory students, we would like to sincerely acknowledge and thank our hardworking MP, Hon. Miki Kaeok, for the school fees assistance program. Your support towards education is greatly appreciated and will help many students continue their studies without financial burden. We are grateful for your commitment to investing in the future of our young people. We are happy to inform students and parents that the school fees payments will begin next week. Thank you once again for your generous support.
I’m wapenamanda student attending Daulo Foursquare Teachers College.
We are coming towards the end of the semester sobit is more better to pay directly into their personal account, because some school account holders play some smart out of such subsidies_!
I am attending Mt.HagenTechnical college and here we have sort course and full-time courses. We are coming towards the end of semester 1,where all the sort course (6Months) students will be leaving so its better you people pay the fees directly to the students personal accounts.
There shouldn’t be any questions regarding students personal details because, the coordinator physically came here and did the purity check ; confirmed all students personal accounts.
Thankyou.
