Councilors and LLGs working in isolation

IT has been reported that there is no working relationship between ward councilors and local level government of a certain district in central province and its governor Rufina Peter.

Vice president of Koiari local level government (LLG) Vince Geno told The Sunday Bulletin his grievances that the Governor of the province was not working with the Koiari local level government and its ward councilors in the Hiri Koiari electorate.

‘’We are muddled since our governor is working in isolation, while keeping us in the cold. We are not sure how to address some of our development agendas when our good lady Governor who keeps on isolating herself from us,’’ Geno said.

He said ward councilors and the LLGs were the third level of government who are always with the people.

He said the manner in which the governor Ms Peter is conducting her duty as the head of the province is quiet worrying since she is isolating herself from the LLG concerned.

‘’How can we work together and address issues when the Governor is giving us negative feed backs and is no way to be seen.  I am not sure with other district LLGs, but that is the case for us Koiari LLG,’’ he said.

He said previous governors had worked with the LLGs and ward councilors and the working relationship was satisfactory.

He said how can issues be addressed when there was communication breakdown between both parties.

He urged the current Governor to come out of her comforts and start working with the LLGs and address issues of concerns in their constituents.

Attempts to reach the Governor to respond on the matter was unsuccessful.
