The Porgera Paiela District Development Authority (DDA) has successfully completed a nationwide student verification exercise and will now proceed with the direct payment of school fees to tertiary institutions across Papua New Guinea.

Member for Porgera Paiela, Hon. Gidron Maso Karipe, MP, announced that over the past four weeks, the DDA team conducted extensive visits to tertiary institutions to personally verify students from the district and establish accurate records.

“This exercise was undertaken to ensure transparency, accountability, and fairness in the processing and payment of school fees,” Karipe said.

He confirmed that the verification process was completed yesterday, paving the way for the next phase of directly settling tuition fees with respective institutions.

Karipe also addressed concerns raised on social media, assuring the public that his administration remains focused on delivering results despite criticism.

“While negative comments are inevitable at all levels of leadership, my team and I remain committed to delivering outcomes within a set timeframe,” he said.

The MP highlighted that despite being in office for only a few months, his administration is already making progress in key areas, particularly in infrastructure development and human resource investment through education.

He further noted that the student support program was initiated by his late father and reaffirmed his commitment to continue and strengthen the initiative for the benefit of the people of Porgera Paiela.

On the issue of law and order, Karipe acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and said his office is working on long-term, sustainable solutions to restore peace and stability in the district.

“These challenges require time, proper planning, and adequate resources. However, we are determined to address them once and for all,” he said.

Karipe urged the public to disregard misinformation and remain patient as the DDA implements its plans.

“I have been given a mandate to serve, and I remain committed and faithful to that responsibility,” he said.
