Six fighters from Southern Highlands province represented the province in the Last Man Standing quarter finals yesterday at the Taurama Aquatics Centre in Port Moresby.
The one-day event hosted by the PNG Kick Boxing Federation brought fighters from across the country who displayed their skills in the ring in the respective bouts.
Team Southern Highlands province Kickboxing association (SHPKBA) was coached by Ali Tony Takon who holds the Oceania Kickboxing title under 66kg silver light weight category.

In an interview with PNG Bulletin at the Port Moresby’s Taurama Aquatics center yesterday, Tony highlighted the team’s focus and determination towards the tournament as they embraced the ring with confidence to take part in their respective rounds.
Coach Tony was pleased with his team for winning four fights and losing two which was an amazing result for him as a coach and team leader.
Tony acknowledged the Southern Highlands provincial government for the funding support of K10, 000 that supported the team’s travel to Port Moresby. He also thanked the PNG Kickboxing Federation for hosting the event that would nurture the future fighters of Papua New Guinea.
Meanwhile, the event successfully completed yesterday with the presentation scheduled for today at the Taurama Aquatic Centre in Port Moresby.
