SP Brewery is proud to announce the appointment of Noel Pepemik as Brewery Manager of its Port Moresby Brewery, marking a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to developing local talent and creating opportunities for Papua New Guineans to take on leadership roles.

The appointment successfully localizes the position, with Mr. Pepemik earning the role after 14 years of dedicated service, professional growth, and contribution to SP Brewery.

Hailing from Boikin in East Sepik Province, Noel’s journey to one of the SP Brewery’s most senior operational roles is a testament to perseverance and commitment.

Reflecting on his early life, Noel said his path to success was shaped by overcoming personal challenges.

“I faced many challenges growing up especially when my father passed away when I was 10 years old, leaving my mother to raise me and my siblings up. I had to take on responsibilities at a young age, but I was fortunate to have the support of my elder brother and his wife to complete my education .”

Noel began his education at Boikin Primary School on the west coast of Wewak before attending Brandi Secondary School. He later graduated from the Papua New Guinea University of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Chemistry. His interest in chemistry and science was sparked by two influential teachers during secondary school.

“My teachers in high school made Chemistry and Science fun. Even after lunch, when most students were tired, I looked forward to their classes. Their passion inspired me to pursue science and eventually  major in Chemistry.”

After graduating from the University of Technology in 2011, Noel couldn’t secure a job . However, his opportunity came through SP Brewery’s Graduate Development Program in 2012.

“It’s never easy finding your first job as a fresh graduate, and I was no different. SP Brewery gave me my first opportunity through its Graduate Development Program, and I remain grateful for that. It is one of the many reasons why I continue to enjoy working for this great company.”

Since joining SP Brewery, Noel has built an impressive career through various roles. After completing the Graduate Development Program, his journey has included positions as Brewing Supervisor, Brewing Manager in Lae in 2020, Packaging Manager, Acting Brewery Manager in 2025, and now Brewery Manager of Port Moresby Brewery.

Throughout his career, Noel has invested personal time in learning and professional development.

“Many sacrifices were made along the way. Time was one of the biggest. I spent countless hours developing myself, often coming to work on weekends and days off to complete training and other development activities without expecting extra pay. That was my personal commitment to growth.”

“SP Brewery has excellent training and development platforms that provided clear pathways for my career growth. This company has helped shape me into the professional I am today.”

As he takes on his new role, Noel acknowledges the mentors who have supported him throughout his career.

“This business has given me the opportunity to learn from the best professional in the brewing industry such as the late Kuri Yuwai, Gia Vela, and Stella Ikasa.

They have created a supportive environment that felt like family and made coming to work something to look forward to every day.”

He adds that one of the most rewarding aspects of his career has been helping develop future leaders within the business.

“One of my proudest achievements has been mentoring junior employees who have since progressed into management roles across the company.

I believe that before you move up, you must prepare others to move up with you. Leadership is not only about your own success but about ensuring those around you are ready to take the next step.”

For young Papua New Guineans aspiring to build a career with SP Brewery, Noel shares a simple yet meaningful piece of advice , “SP Brewery is a great place to work , embrace every opportunity to learn, work hard, and stay committed to your goals. The standards, systems, and ways of working are second to none in Papua New Guinea. Commitment, discipline, and a willingness to continuously develop yourself are the key to bu ilding a successful career here.”
