THE inaugural Livuan LLG Presidents Cup will extend into Monday, today, after time constraints prevented the grand final from being played over the weekend.
The tournament, which was officially launched on Friday, 18 September, by Livuan LLG President Honourable Saliken Ikilik, was held at the Livuan Police Post field. The tournament coincided with the 32nd anniversary of the ENB Twin Volcanic Eruptions.
After two days of intense competition in Rugby 9s and Volleyball, the men’s Rugby 9s grand final could not be completed on Saturday.
Kabakda has secured its place in the decider and will now wait for the winner between Ratongor and Rababat’s V-wools Team 2.
The delay means the tournament will continue today, Monday,
with organisers confirming the grand final will be played then.
Seven men’s teams contested the Rugby 9s Cup, while eleven women’s teams battled for the Volleyball Trophy.
The men’s Rugby 9s winner will receive K1,000 and the 2026 Livuan Presidents Cup, while the women’s Volleyball champions will take home K500 and the LLG Volleyball Trophy.
Individual honours for Top Try Scorer, Best and Fairest, and Player of the Tournament will also be awarded.
President Ikilik, who launched the tournament, challenged the youths to use the competition as a platform to progress in sports and become role models.
He stressed that the initiative was not about politics or self-promotion, but about adding value to the youths of Livuan.
The tournament is set to become an annual event on the Livuan LLG calendar, commemorating the Twin Volcano Eruption Anniversary every 18th and 19th of September.
