DON’T BECOME LEGAL EXPERTS & RESPECT THE COURT : PM MARAPE

PNG PRIME Minister James Marape has called on citizens to refrain from spinning politically motivated opinions in relation to a Supreme Court reference filed by Member for Ialibu-Pangia and leader of PNC Party Peter O’Neill against the election of Prime Minister.

PM Marape in a text message said everyone must respect the Supreme Court and wait for court’s ruling instead of becoming legal experts and judges overnight.

“……I also noted many commentaries on PNC Leader PO’s SC reference on my election as PM on 9/8/22.

People should learn to respect court and await court decisions and not become legal experts and judges overnight. Matters were raised, five of our top Judges in our country are handling the matters and they will decide.

The country is bigger than James Marape, and reading and ruling of law will prevail ultimately.

I ask our citizens, let us respect our courts and refrain from spinning your opinions into the public space.”
