ENB signs MoA for roadworks

A MEMORANDUM of Agreement (MOA) was recently signed between the East New Britain Provincial Administration (ENBPA) and the Department of Works and Highways (DOWH) for the construction and maintenance of roads, building construction and maintenance work in the four districts of ENB.

The parties involved in the MoA include ENBPA, DoWH Kokopo branch, and plants and transport branch.

The contract will be valid for a year, starting from March 27th, 2023, and will be reviewed annually.

During this period, DoWH and its sister branch, plants and transport, will complete the assigned road and building infrastructure works in accordance with the project design, specifications, or DoW standards and specifications.

During the signing, Acting Provincial Administrator Levi Mano said the MoA is a formality and the partners have already started scoping.

“What we are doing is creating an environment for contractors but we need to start small doing surface grading on every road, then sealing roads in the four districts as far as Pomio,” he said.

Mano said he would lead the provincial administration become relevant to the lives of the people and the MoA is for the benefit of the province.

He challenged the partners and team leaders of the program to collaborate so that the districts can work together to make this program a success.
