Female staff honor International Women’s Day

By FRANCIS RODNEY PULU

FEMALE staff of the Kramer Ausenco PNG early this week have decided to participate in a photo session in honor of the International Women’s Day that’s coming up on March 8, 2023.

These women are doing so as part of their advance preparation to commemorate the annual day.

Sunday Bulletin had the opportunity to speak to one of the female staff named Loretta Tunim, who is the company’s Bid Coordinator.

Tunim said since it was the first time for these women folks to commemorate this event, they decided to take their photos in front of the company’s banner and the office.

She said the taking of pictures was basically just to acknowledge the ladies who are in the construction and engineering industry where it is male dominated and less women.

“This is to appreciate the women for their support and for their persistence in delivering projects efficiently. That is why Kramer Ausenco wants to appreciate the women staff not only in PNG but other offices in the Pacific and abroad.

We recognize all women across in the working environment especially in the construction and engineering industry,” she said.

Tunim added that it is also rare to find women in such industry where it is male dominated.

“And to find women in such industry it is an opportunity to let them shine in such inclusive gender equality where we have women involved thus makes a society a better place to live in.

So, we recognize women as they can be able to support. Like in the past generation of our ancestors and forefathers we thought that only male can be able to provide such services but now it is coming down to women and we want to recognize women who are taking part in such industry so they are given an equal opportunity to put into practice their skills and talents,” she said.

She further said that to commemorate the day they want to also encourage other young aspiring girls who have future dreams to become engineers.

“So, with this they can also be motivated to see that it is safe and normal for women to get into such industry without being scared of anything,” she said.

Meanwhile, Tunim on behalf of the women wished every woman a happy International Women’s Day in advance.

“So be you, do you and take up whatever aspirations you have.

You have goals and don’t be limited to go into your field of interest. If you think it’s hard like you can’t do it, think positive as you can do it, you are the next person that others would look up to,” she said.

Kramer Ausenco is the world’s leading engineering and project management in PNG and the Pacific.

It has other six offices in the Pacific that includes Vanuata, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Brisbane, Samoa and Tonga and is a multi-disciplinary engineering project management and architectural company in the engineering sector.
