THE people of Kumbuhun in the Yangoru-Saussia District of East Sepik Province celebrated the opening of a new road on Tuesday.
Local MP and International Trade and Investment Minister Richard Maru opened the 35km road, which cost the Yangoru-Saussia District Development Authority K400,000.
“The last time I came to Kumbuhun 2, I arrived in a helicopter because there was no road,” he said.
“I promised the people that day that I would return in a vehicle.
“I kept that promise.
“We know that Kumbuhun has many cocoa fermentaries and businesses.
“We also know that many children have difficulties trying to go to school on rainy days.
“This new road will now give the people here access to town, markets, schools, and health services.”
