SIDELINED Justice and Attorney General Secretary Dr Eric Kwa appeared before the Waigani District Court after five months of allegedly killing his female staff during a road accident.
He appeared in Court last Tuesday after Police charged him a month ago of dangerous driving which caused a death during the road accident.
Despite five months of investigation, Police have not yet produced the handout brief before the Court.
Kwa’s lawyer Emmanuel Asigau expressed concern that police information was not ready and told the court that the arresting Officer had assured his client on Wednesday, 8th March 2023 at the Boroko Police station that the police handout brief would be ready in two weeks’ time.
However, Magistrate Hilda Api said that committal court process usually take three months for the police to complete all the investigation report and she adjourned the case to 4th April 2023.
Mr Kwa is now out on National Court Bail of K5000.
He was charged on the 8th February 2023 and appeared before the Court five months later due to the Court clerks not receiving his bail application receipt.
It was alleged that last year in October 17 at around 9.54am, Dr Kwa was driving a vehicle along the Hiritano Highway heading to Bereina Station in Central to attend a ceremony hosted by the Constitutional Law Reforms Commission when the incident happened between Doa and Agevairu.
The deceased, Lucy Sihrong, was sitting in the back seat when the vehicle allegedly ran off the road and flipped over twice.
Sihrong passed away on November 5 at the Port Moresby General Hospital from injuries on her head.
