THE Morobe Provincial Government (MPG), under the leadership of Morobe Governor Hon. Rainbo Paita, has successfully completed the payment of K6 million in scholarship assistance to tertiary institutions across Papua New Guinea under the 2026 Morobe Provincial Government Government Scholarship Scheme (MPG GSS).
The funds have been paid directly into the respective accounts of tertiary institutions, ensuring that Morobe students can proceed with their registrations and continue their studies without unnecessary delays.
Governor Hon. Rainbo Paita said investing in education remains one of the Provincial Government’s highest priorities, as education is the foundation for building a skilled workforce and a stronger future for Morobe Province.
“Despite financial challenges, we remain committed to supporting our students because they are the future leaders, professionals and innovators who will drive Morobe and Papua New Guinea forward. Every deserving Morobe student must have the opportunity to pursue higher education,” Governor Paita said.
The Scholarship Office has advised that remittance letters are now being issued to student representatives. Student Presidents may collect the remittance letters from the Scholarship Office to facilitate student registration. For
institutions based in Port Moresby, the remittance letters have been coordinated through the Morobe Tertiary Students Union (MTSU) Port Moresby representative, while institutions outside Lae will receive their remittance advice via email or WhatsApp.
Some remittance letters could not be printed immediately due to Treasury officers attending the funeral of a colleague. Those remaining documents will be printed and issued on Monday (27/06/26).
Governor Paita acknowledged the outstanding teamwork demonstrated by the Morobe Provincial Administration, the Scholarship Office, Treasury, Budget Division, the Governor’s Office, and all officers who worked tirelessly to ensure the scholarship payments were completed.
He also thanked Provincial Administrator Mr. Max Bruten, Deputy Provincial Administrator Mr. Robin Bazzynu, Chief of Staff Mr. Wilson O. Thompson, Scholarship Chairman Mr. Lavish Yuta and his team, Treasury and Budget officials led by Mr. George Wachingara, and all stakeholders who contributed to the successful implementation of the 2026 scholarship program.
Governor Paita extended his sincere appreciation to the Morobe Tertiary Students Union (MTSU), student leaders and the entire student body for their patience, cooperation and constructive engagement throughout the payment process.
“The Morobe Provincial Government remains committed to investing in our young people because education is the key to unlocking opportunities and creating lasting development for our province,” Governor Paita said.
