MP ACKNOWLEDEGES THE PEOPLE OF ENGA PROVINCE FOR PROVIDING LEADERSHIP DURING THE RECENT MAYHEM

Lagaip Open MP Hon.Aimos Akem (pictured) sincerely acknowledged the show of responsibility and matured behavior displayed by the people of Enga Province during the recent riots, chaos and destruction that happened in Port Moresby and other major centres throughout the country.

He reiterated the call for understanding and common sense to prevail as business houses and government services are here to serve the people and there is no logic in attacking these institutions.

Akem urged the people not to listen to rumors, gossips and lies circulated by political opportunists as these are works of failed politicians who didn’t get the people’s mandated in the last elections.

Akem is cautious of political opportunists who go around stirring unnecessary confusion provoking the people to resort to violence and advised the people to be wary of such people.

The pioneer MP urged his people to refrain from participating in illegal acts and movements as it will add more law and order problems.

He is optimistic that the shown of leadership and understanding displayed by the people over the last couple of days will be maintained thereafter.

He reiterated the call for ownership as the country belongs to us all regardless of our status thus maintaining the fact that we must be responsible custodians during our time setting the standard for the next generation to follow suit going foward.

The provincial capital of Wabag is peaceful with business houses operating without any disruptions since the riots began on January 10.

Similarly, Wapenamanda, Kandep, Laiagam, Pogera and Kompiam plus all rural government stations throughout the province reported no casualties of destruction and violence all throughout.

Akem is a member of the ruling Pangu Pati with fellow party colleagues from Enga Province that includes Wapenamanda Open MP and Vice Minister for Works and Highways Hon.Miki Kaeok and Kandep Open MP Hon.Don Pomb Polye who is also the Minister for Higher Education, Science, Research and Technology plus Sports.
