THE Member for Nipa Kutubu has expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Nipa Kutubu District Development Authority (DDA) for successfully organising a peaceful Independence Celebration on the occasion of Papua New Guinea’s 48th Independence anniversary.
Dr Billy Joseph extended his gratitude, singling out Robin Tuna, the district planner and chairman of the Independence Celebration organising committee, for his exceptional efforts in ensuring the success of the event.
The celebrations took place at the Nipa Kutubu (NK) headquarters in Nipa station, where a formal flag raising ceremony was conducted.
Sergeant Luke Abergini led the ceremony with the Mobile Squad Team, specially deployed by NK DDA to address law and order challenges in the district. During the flag hoisting, the children from Nipa Admin Primary School passionately sang the national anthem, evoking nostalgic emotions and reminiscing about the prosperous days when Nipa served as a thriving service center for the NK populace. The event was imbued with hope for a brighter future under the leadership of the new MP, Governor Powi, and the Marape-Rosso government.
In his Independence Day message, the MP of Nipa Kutubu delineated a comprehensive roadmap for his term, focusing on key priorities and objectives to drive development in the region.
He also thanked the Southern Highlands Provincial Government for allocating K50,000 for the event. The DDA has also appropriated K100,000. 00 each to all the LLGs for the next event.
The MP emphasised that peace is the bedrock of all development.
“Peace forms the bedrock of all development. To foster progress and growth in our country, every citizen must uphold and respect our laws, maintaining peace at all times,” he said.
MP NK urged the people of NK to embrace the Connect PNG initiative, aligned with the Connect Nipa Kutubu policy, encouraging them to refrain from seeking land compensation for road construction and emphasising participation in the agricultural sector, particularly in coffee production, as a means to boost the local economy. He highlighted these strategies, among others, as pivotal in positively impacting the lives of rural communities.
“I, as your MP, am committed to doing my utmost to fulfill these promises. It is crucial for every citizen to play their part by abiding by the law, maintaining peace, and contributing to our collective efforts as we approach 2025, the significant milestone when our nation turns 50,” the MP concluded, rallying the community for a brighter and prosperous future.”
