By Police Media Officer Constable Sylvester Wemuru.

QUICK response from a Sector Patrol Unit from the National Capital District Command prevented a man from losing his mobile phone which contained important documents and contacts.

The mobile phone was stolen at Two Mile Hill in Port Noresby first bus stop on Monday afternoon.

According to police officers from the Sector Patrol Unit Fox 103, it was alleged that the victim namely Mark Lolai from Wapenamanda in the Enga province and the suspect were travelling on the same PMV bus that was going towards Koki from Boroko.

The police officers said when the bus reached the Two Mile first bus stop, the suspect who was inside the bus grabbed Lolai`s phone and ran into the settlement.

The police officers who were patrolling that location saw the victim chasing the suspect and came in to assist.

The police officers went into the settlement and with the assistance of the settlers identified the suspect and told his parents to have the mobile phone returned to the owner.

Within hours the phone was returned to the police officers.

Yesterday,  the policemen handed the phone over to a relieved Lola.

Lolai when receiving the phone thanked the police officers for their quick response in recovering his mobile phone.

Lolai said with the Sector Patrol concept, police presence is seen and felt throughout the city.

He thanked the Assistant Commissioner of Police and Commander NCD/Central Anthony Wagambie Jr for creating the unit.
