Parliament appoints four new committees

PARLIAMENT has appointed and sworn-in four new Special Parliamentary committees (SPCs) during its October sitting.

The committees include the SPC on Customary Land and Land Reforms in PNG, SPC on Ease of Doing Business, SPC on the Implementation of the Medium-Term Development Plan (MTDP 4) and SPC on Airports Operation and Airlines Industries.

The SPC on Customary Land and Land Reforms in PNG is headed by Hiri-Koiari Member of Parliament (MP) Keith Iduhu as chairman and includes Kokopo MP Ereman ToBaining Jr, Western Highlands Governor Wai Rapa, Central Bougainville MP Simon Dumarinu, Moresby North-West MP Lohia Boe Samuel, Aitape-Lumi MP Anderson Mise and Alotau MP Ricky Morris.

Nawaeb MP Theo Pelgen chairs the SPC on Ease of Doing Business, with its members including
Karimui-Nomane MP Francis Alua as deputy chair, Middle Fly MP Maso Hewabi, Ijivitari MP David Arore, Eastern Highlands Governor Simon Sia, Chimbu Governor Noah Kool andHuon Gulf Marsh Narewec.

With the hype surrounding the launching of the Medium-Term Development Plan IV, the government has appointed West New Britain Governor Sasindran Muthuvel as Chairman and Central Governor Rufina Peter as deputy to lead a team of MPs, including Eastern Highlands Governor Simon Sia, Manus Governor Charlie Benjamin, Gulf Governor Chris Haiveta, Hela Governor Philip Undialu and East New Britain Governor Michael Marum to oversee its implementation.

Bulolo MP Sam Basil Jr chairs the SPC on Airport Operations and the Airlines Industries, with Sumkar MP Alex Orme as deputy. Its other members are Talasea MP Freddie Kumai, Middle Ramu MP Kansol Kamdaru, ENB Governor Michael Marum and Wosera-Gawi MP Joseph Yopyopy.
