MEMBER for Nawaeb Hon. Theo Pelgen vows to provide necessary support to all rural health centers in his district.
He said health is a wealth for everyone and under his leadership, all rural health centers in the district will receive support from his office to get them functional on daily basis.
Mr. Pelgen made this comment when inspecting the facilities and patients at the Situm Health Centre on last Sunday. Situm is located people of the Labuta area.
The MP was keen to see for himself the daily operations of the Health Centre and how health workers are handling patients with the resources they have on hand.
“The health center needs adequate medicines and pharmaceutical supplies to cater the needs of patients admitted.”
“What the District can do for now is to supply these pharmaceuticals to ensure that there is sufficient care given to patients,” he said.
Plegen said basic quality health care in the country is a major challenge year in year out, however, good preventative measures must be taken seriously to avoid illnesses and diseases.
He therefore pledged to fulfil his support to Situm Health Centre.The MP further took the time to talk with several admitted patients and found out about their locality and medical condition.
He said the Nawaeb District Five (5) Year Development Plan is set to capture the revitalization of all existing health facilities in the district in this term of parliament.
“We have started the process by funding the water supply to Situm Health Centre in June. This will cater for the center and health workers residence as well.”
“We further intend to redevelop the existing infrastructure with quality back up resources such as solar kits to keep the facility operating around the clock.”
The Situm Health Centre caters for patients as far as Bumayong, Hobu, and villages along the Labuta Coastline.
