THE Papua New Guinea National Rugby League Competition (PNG NRLC) has officially unveiled the schedule for the 2024 Digicel ExxonMobil Cup. The 12-team competition is slated to commence on the weekend of April 13th-14th, 2024.
Notably, Waghi Tumbe makes a comeback after a one-year absence. The regular season comprises 18 rounds, featuring a total of 108 matches. The top six clubs will advance to the final’s series, beginning on 25 August, with the grand final set for 15 September at the Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby.
In the first round, Gulf Isou will host Pom Viupers in Port Moresby, Mt Hagen Eagle will face Lae Tigers in Hagen, Enga Miok takes on Mendi Muruks in Wabag, Hela Wigmen hosts the Goroka Lahanis in Port Moresby, and Waghi Tumbe will clash with Rabaul Gurias in Minj, while Kimbe Cutters host Central Dabaris in Kimbe.
Fans can anticipate an early grand final rematch between premiers EPG Enga Mioks and the runner-up Bintangor Goroka Lahanis in a round 4 clash in Goroka.
PNG NRLC General Manager, Leith Issac, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming season, emphasizing improvements following the challenges faced in 2023.

PNGRFL CEO and PNG NRLC Board member, Stanley Hondina, highlighted the significance of releasing the competition draws before Christmas, providing ample time for clubs to plan preseason and in-season activities.
He emphasized that the 2024 season would showcase the best domestic players and align with the Improved Game Management and Club Professionalism pillars of the NRLC Strategic Plan.
